The Jeep brand is more popular than ever, and that's leading to some big changes at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). The company is investing over 1 billion dollars in Jeep production with upgrades to their manufacturing plants based in Toledo, Ohio and Belvedere, IL.

While previously estimated to have a production capacity of about 240,000 vehicles per year, Jeep has always managed to produce more than that to keep up with demand. With Cherokee production being moved to the Illinois location, and Wrangler production beginning in Toledo, Jeep hopes to pump out 450,000 of its rugged SUVs in 2017. That's an 87.5% increase in production which is expected to bring 700 new jobs to Toledo and 1,000 jobs to Belvidere, IL. Jeep has previously had issues with supply, limiting their ability to sell Wranglers in the US. With new American-made Jeeps on the way, and the popular Jeep Renegade being produced in China, Brazil, and Italy, Jeep’s supply woes may have come to an end.
